    denied. His father's home was far north and Aiduis hearing of St. Patrick's wonderful teaching, journeyed to Drumlease, Co. Cavan and met the saint.
    Soon Aiduis became one of Patrick's most ardent admirers and very soon was baptized and enrolled as one of St. Patrick's missionary staff. They laboured together for a long time and at last St. Macartan showed signs of exhaustion and asked St. Patrick to relieve him from further travel and allow him to settle down in charge of some church to end his days in peace.
