    A blind band once, both great and good,

    A blind bard once, both great and good,
    Has sung in praise of sweet Haywood,
    But not a bard I yet heard tell,
    E're sang in praise of Katty's well,
    II
    Here all the seasons of the year,
    The birds all sing sweet and clear,
    They sing as just, and sweet and well,
    On the bush that hangs o'er Katty's well.
    III
    And on the hillocks, all around
    The nimble rabbits frisk and bound,
    And in the breeze comes forth a smell,
    Of the furze that bloom to Katty's well.

    And if you would a sweetheart meet,
    Why not you choose this calm retreat,
    The tale of love you have to tell,
    Sounds twice as sweet as Katty's well,
