The phesant is another one of the game birds, the cock is a nicer bird than the hen. He has a big long tail which is full of colours. The phesant's nest is a mould of moss on the ground, generally under briars. She lays fourteen or fifteen eggs about the size of a bantan's egg. A person need a licence to shoot phesants, and would be summoned if he were caught shooting them without a licence. If a person shot a hen phesant during close seansons he would be very heavily fined.
