  1. The usual kind of old house in this district is a very small thatched house about a yard down in the ground and a half door in the front and then they have a big door hanging beside the half door. They are very comfortable little houses but they are very stuffy. In front there is a little and a few hens around the door. In the kitchen there is a fire with two hobs on each side of it. Someone in generally sitting on one of the hobs. Then at one side there is an arm-chair, and at the other side there is a form. At the wall in front of the door there is a big settle bed that can be let down and act as a bed. In some houses there is but one room
