Amongst the poorer class of people in the country people like to have a good supply of whisky for the occasion or even some poteen.
In olden times those attending the wedding used to race to the bride's house on horse-back or even on foot, and who ever was home first got some whiskey.
In the days when people did attend weddings on horse-back the wives sat on the horses with their husbands, but now-adays no one ever goes(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
