  1. I live in the townland of Cortuber. My father owns a farm which contains about twenty fields and most of them have names.
    "The Field Before the Door" is so called because it is situated before the door.
    "The Round Field" got its name from its being round.
    "The Back Hill" because it is situated at the back of the house.
    The Bog Field" because it is beside the bog.
    "The Old House Field" because there are the ruins of an old house in it.
    "The Carrot Hill" because it was once sown in carrots.
    "The Flat Field" because it is very flat.
    "The Short Field" because it is shorter than any of the rest.
    "The White Field" because white grass grows on it.
