  1. Whooping - cough:- Go to a married couple who possessed the same name before they were married, and when they give the sick person bread to eat, which is cut in squares the cough will soon be cured.
    Sty on the eye:- Get a thorn of a gooseberry bush, and get someone to point the thorn at the sty nine times, and on the ninth time stick it into the sty.
    Blood - poison:- Apply a linseed poultice made up with butter - milk and a pinch of baking soda added
    Rheumatism: - (1) Carry two small potatoes or a nutmeg in the pocket nearest the afflicted part.
    (2) Sting the afflicted part well with nettles.
