    As we went for a stroll on the 2nd of June
    When natures green mantle was spreading in bloom
    The evening looked dull but we had no rain
    And we started out jolly to see Mary Jane.

    When we got to Coolartra it was just like a fair,
    From Tassan to Tonagh and the Hollow Square
    Up from St. Mary's and sweet Castleshane
    They came to take farewell of Sweet Mary Jane.
