- How potatoes are plantedThere are several ways by which potatoes are planted. The way the most farmers do it is first to plough the land with a single mould plough then harrow it and open drills with a double mould plough. When the drills are opened the farmer draws manure to the field and then spreads it along the drills. Then he has all ready and the sgiolláns are cut. It is mostly the women that cut these but they must be careful that they leave a couple of eyes in each "sgiollán". Then they are taken to the field in bags and baskets and the men and women get to work spreading. Each sgiollán must be left(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
