- In olden days a cow is reputed to have fed the people in Beann árd and Meentogues. Though she was milked about a dozen times a day her amount of milk never diminished. One day however a woman (a tailor's wife) milked her into a sieve and the cow died of grief to see her milk going for nothing in the ground. There is a man in Beann árd who can point the fields she used to frequent.
