    A watched pot never boils
    Thought once awakened does not again slumber
    Debt is the worst kind of poverty
    Every little makes a mettle
    Kind hearts are easly hurt
    Every cock crows bold in his own door
    Smooth water runs deep
    Too much pepper spoils the broth
    If you can not say a good thing say nothing
    Fire is quickly spread and by its own accord but water must be got to extinguish it
    These proverbs were told to me by my father and mother Michael and Mrs Reidy who live in Coom, Cordal
