  1. We have a churn at home. It is narrow at the top and wide at the bottom. It is about three feet in height. There are hoops around it to keep it together. There are few parts in it namely the staff, the lid, and the cup. Butter is made once a week in summer and once a fortnight in winter. If anybody comes in while the churning is going on they strike a stroke on the churn for it is said that they would carry the butter if they did not strike the churn. When the butter is made there are little gráiníns of butter to be seen on the staff
