    Half-doors were very common long ago and a few are still to be found in the neighbourhood.
    The fire consisted of turf and wood. Rush lights were used locally in olden times.
    They were got as follows.
    The rushes were first peeled and dipped in grease.
    Then they were ready to light and they lasted a long time
