Story was told by Kathleen Tonra, Knockminna

    Tobair Tomhnach
    - is a little to north of church
    - " St. Patrick's Holy Well. "
    - some hold that St. Mathona is buried here on a green slope to the east of the holy well ( H. Morris (?) Esq)
There is a tree near the Well and a protecting wall around.
The well is used for temporal benefits and the water is considered efficacious for " sore eyes ". The water is drunk and prayers are offered to St. Patrick for spiritual needs.
A large stone with two holes upon the surface lies near the well.
It is said that the imprint of St Patrick's knees are on the stone.
Persons suffering from rheumatism placed their knees in the hollows on slab, and this ceremony, together with certain prayers at St. Patrick's Holy Well were deemed a remedy for rheumatic pains.
