    The smith does a great deal of his work in the open air when the weather is fine. When he is shoeing wheels he always has a fire outside and he shoes them in the open air always. The smiths are always looked upon as being very strong men. In olden times the people always gathered to the forge in the evenings and somebody always read the paper around, but that is not the custom nowadays.
