    About seventy years ago the people of this neighbourhood never used flour or tea.

    About seventy years ago the people of this neighbourhood never used flour or tea. They lived on their own produce namely: potatoes, oats, eggs, and milk. They grew their own oats and got it ground into oaten meal in the mills.
    This was their principal food and they made it into porridge and cakes.
    They ate their breakfast at about eleven o'clock after they had worked for four or five hours on their little farms. For their breakfast they ate either porridge or potatoes. They ate their dinner at about three o'clock
