    he took off the boots and socks. Then he hoisted the bishop on his back and stepped into the river. When about half way across he stopped suddenly. The bishop told him to go ahead but he replied that he could not move another step as he was getting weak. The bishop asked him what caused his weakness. The man replied that the weight on his back and his sins were too heavy and he would have to lie down.
