    1. May Day throw out no ashes, give away no milk or the butter will be taken. Leave clean water in the kithen, sweep up the hearth and leave a few "spuds" in a pot on the hot for the fairies. Also throw out no water after dark.
    2. If you enter a house and find a woman churning, be sure and take a turn at the churn for fear the butter would would go.
    3. Pat the Sign of the Cross on the cow's udder after she has been milked.
    4. It is customary to make pancakes on Shrove Tuesday and that night is called "Pancake Night"
