  1. In the townland in which I live that is Kilvarnet there are at least six forts, each one in a line with the other. In the middle of each of these forts is a large round space, perfectly flat. Round about this there is a deep ditch, then a great bank like a large ring, and then another ditch.
    Most people say that these forts were built when the Danes were invading Ireland. The Irish to protect themselves surrounded their houses with great high ditches so that the enemy could
