  1. My house is situated in the townland of Newtown, in the parish of Castleconnor, in the Barony of Tireragh. This name was given to it because when they were making the mainroad, this was called the New-line and one of the landlords changed it to Newtown. There are fourteen houses in my townland. There are only two slated houses. The slated houses are Hanleys and Dorans. Mrs Hanley has one hundred and fifty acres and Miss Doran
