  1. Some potatoes are grown on our farm.
    About a rood is under potatoes each year, and the amount of potatoes gets bigger each year.
    The ground is manured before being turned up and the potatoes are sown in drills and sometimes in ridges. Sometimes the ridges are made with a spade and on other occasions they are made with a plough.
    Long ago wooden ploughs were very plentiful but none are to be had at the present time.
    The spades are bought in a shop.
    When potatoes are being sown they split in two parts and sometimes three leaving a few "eyes" in each split or seed.
    The local people help one another in the sowing of of the potatoes. The potatoes are dug with a spade.
    The farmer has to pick his own potatoes.
