    I'm going to leave old Ireland
    The land I do adore,
    To seek an honest living
    Upon Columbus' shore,
    The same has been denied us
    Held by a tyrant's sway
    To leave the spot where I was born
    Adjacent to Muckelty Hill in the County of Sligo.

    Farewell to dear Achonry
    That noted spot of fame.
    While down in Histories pages
    It bears an honoured name.
    It was the seat of learning
    Where fine churches once did stand
    Oh, pure and sanctified it was
    And everything so grand.

    The wicket persicuters
    A cruel heartless band.
    Some centuries ago
    Did ravage our fair land,
    Their hearts were so filled with vice
