  1. There is hardly a district in Ireland no matter how remote or, if, as the old people say, it were " at the back of God Speed ", as well noted for beautiful scenery and striking features as ours.
    In it are the two beautiful hills Muckelty and Knocknashee. The latter being of a very bold elevation with picturesque outline deserves the high honour the "Good People" have paid it by making it their head-quarters in Connaught. There is a famous lime-stone quarry under its green fertile sod. It was with this wonderful stone that the Parish church of Mullinabreena was built. Mullinabreena was the name of Knocknashee first. The fairy Queen changed it to Knocknashee meaning " The hill of the airy mansion or palace. The people believed that there is a mysterious well on the top of the hill of Knocknashee, and no one ever is supposed to find it. But one night at a very late hour a simpleton was
