The master used to beat the boys with a "cat and-nine-tails." The school was built of stone. The master used to ? make a ring on the floor and if anyone failed in the Catechism he used to beat the boys across the feet with the "cat and nine-tails. He used to teach English, Arithmetic, Catechism and writing. He was not a native of this district but a wandering man. He is dead now but I do not know where he was buried.
