species of birds. They live in wooded districts, and very often quarrel among themselves. They start to build their nests on 1st Feb but if it falls on Sunday they won't start until the 2nd.
The hawk which is not loved by the farmers' wives, owing to it been so destructive on the young fowl, is a large bird of an ash colour. It is supposed to be nature's means of keeping other birds fit and healthy as they kill off the weak and diseased, leaving only the strong and healthy to stock the hills and the moors.
