  1. In every house in this district there is a churn. A churn is a medium sized instrument for churning milk in. It is worked by the hands. The principal parts of a churn are, the lid and the dash. When the dash is put on the churn they bring it upwards and downwards until it is churned.
    When you are churning if a stranger comes in he should churn for a while and if not they say that they will bring the butter with them. There is water put in the milk to help to churn it. It is said that if you give milk away on May day you are giving away your luck. If you churn the fairies will bring the butter with them.
