Some diseases are caused in cattle by "overlooking" or by striking the animals with the rod of a boor-tree bush. A fine Kerry cow accidentally hit her foot against a bird cradle. Within the year she went to deaths door. The "Cow doctor"succeeded in tracing her disorder back to the boor tree bird trap. It is not known how he cured her.
Blackleg in cattle can be cured with garlic and gunpowder.
