1. One man had an 8 gallon measure full of porter, and he agreed with another man to give him half. The only measures they had were an emty 5 gallon and a 3 gallon. How did they divide the stout evenly. Ans. -: They filled the 3 gallon and poured it into the five gallon leaving 1 gallon in the 3 gallon, they next poured the contents of the five gallon back into the 8 gallon and poured the one gallon out of the 8 the 3 gallon into the five gallon and by filling the 3 gallon again they had 4 left in the 8 gallon. 2. As I went by the wall, I heard a man call, his head was of flesh and his mouth of horn did you ever hear tell of such a man born.
