  1. In September 1886 Lord Clanrickard's tenants wanted him to sell his property or else to give a reduction in the rent He would not agree to their terms and so they refused to pay any rent. Then the Landlord sent his agent (Tanner) to evict all who would not pay. The people tried to defend many houses namely: Bowle's of Loosecaun, Broder's of Douras, Fahy's of Douras, and Saunder's of Drummin.
    They defended Saunder's Fort for three days. There were about twenty men in side: John Hickey, Michael Mugivan,
