The root of Meacan a'Cumpna boiled and eggs put through it was used to cure a sore foot.John Kearns, Lowberry, Ballinlough, Roscommon was suffering from scurvey in the face and body for six weeks. He had visited the doctor but had got no relief. He was told to visit a man named Conneely, Boyunagh, Glenamaddy Galway. The latter looked over the body and face. He applied nothing but simply put his hand on the face and parts of the body that were affected and the man was cured. Conneely is the seventh son of his family. This man one day saw a worm crawling on the road, he put a circle round it and the worm died.The Seventh Son and charms.
Noonan said every seventh son has not a charm. He said in order to have a charm a certain thing was put into the infant's (7th son's) hand before it was allowed to suckle on the mother's breast. He said in order that seventh son might have a charm for(continues on next page) - Collector
