    their earthly haunts. In many parts of the country bread and water are left on the hearth in case some poor souls would be hungry. Bonfires were also lit on the hillside to ward off evil spirits.
    Some of the games played are, apples suspended from the ceiling and the players try to catch them with their teeth. Another popular game is to place a tub of water, into which money and apples are put on the floor. the players kneel beside it with their hands tied behind their backs, great fun is made by their efforts to catch the apples. There was always a cake made into which a ring was put and who found the ring was supposed to be married first that custom is still carried out.
