The way for preparing for the sowing of the seed is first they bring in the potatoes out of the pit and then they pick the small ones, and cut them into slits, generally leaving an eye in each slit. They like to have the early slits cut about two or three weeks before sticking them. They always put them in a dry place, and shake lime on them. Very often people help each other in sowing. the potato-crop, because where there is a man without any help his neighbour generally helps him.
