  1. About fifteen years ago there were sports in Culdaff. This is one of the competitions. A pole six yards long was put out from the pier over the sea.
    Grease was put on the pole to make it slippy. Any man that wanted to compete had to walk out to the end of the pole and back on bare feet.
    Only one man could do it.
    He walked out to the end and returned safely. This man's name was Denis Monagle of Bunagee.
