  1. Girls used to make girdles from flowers called buttecups and they used to make cloth dolls and stuff them with straw or hay. Boys used to make home made tops by shaping them out of spools when the thred was taken of the spools. Boys used to make lanterns from turnips and put candles in the turnips to show light. Boy also used to cut a face out in a turnip and put a candle in it to scare other people. Boys also used to make swords from rushe and they also used to make hat from rushes.
