There is a large tree in townland of Cavan. Killygordon. This large tree has seven large trees surrounding it At one time fairies were believed to be there. One day an old woman was supposed to break a few brambles off it and took them into the house to light the fire in the morning. When they all had gone to bed the old woman heard a noise in the kitchen and went down to see what it was. She was supposed to see little fairies dressed gaily in coloured clothes and they dancing. These fairies were once in the form of sticks but changed into fairies and when they saw the woman they were once in the form of sticks again. This story is said to be a true one.
