- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)side of the road and put on their shoes and when they were coming out of the town they would sit down and take off their shoes again and carry them home. Long ago shoemakers went round houses to see if the people wanted a pair of shoes made. If they did the shoemaker made them and he would stay in the house until he had them finished. Some people who were handy with their fingers would buy the uppers and make the shoes in their own houses. The shoemakers nowadays have little houses where they can make shoes and mend shoes. Our men at home can mend shoes and put patches on them. There are two shoe makers in Dunfanaghy.
