- When there is a white mist coming up the Niche it is a sign of good weather. When the wild-geese come from the hill it is a sign of a storm. A hollow sound in the river is a sign of frost. When you see a dog eating grass it is a sign of thunder. When the sheep move from one place to another without being driven it is a sign of a storm coming. A ring round the moon is a sign of rain. A ring round the sun is also a sign of rain. The swallows flying low is a sign of rain. On the other hand when they fly high it's a sign of good weather. When you see a crane flying up the river it's a sign of rain. Gulls swimming on the sea close to the land are a sign of good weather. Bad weather is sure to come when the gulls fly inland. When far away hills look near at hand it is commonly said that rain is nigh. When a cat sits with its back to the fire it is a sign of rain. When you see brown frogs it is the sign of good weather. When the frogs spawn in the middle of a pool a good summer is due. When the spawn lines the edges of the pool wet weather is coming. If the horns of the new moon point upwards it is the sign of good weather; if on the other hand they point downwards rain is coming. In the first case the moon(continues on next page)
