  1. (continued from previous page)
and they frequently visit my district, and have been coming for over fifty years.
They travel from place to place and they are sure to be seen before a fair. Some of them have ponies and carts in which they travel from place to place and others have old caravans tackled on to donkeys. They fix their abode near the farmers houses, sometimes they make fires outside and cook their own food.
Others go into the farmers houses and they get a good breakfast, dinner and tea. They have always plenty of news to tell and the farmers love to have them sit by the fire, and they tell the farmers the prices that are got for cattle, sheep and horses at the fairs.
