  1. Bread was made from wheat grown locally. People had querns and they used to grind their own corn.
    The different kinds of bread made was barley-bread, potato-bread and griddle-bread.
    Boxty bread was made from potatoes. They were washed and scraped on a tin. This was baked with flour on a pan.
    Potatoe-bread was made with potatoes. They were boiled & peeled & pounded on a table and then baked in a pan.
    Griddle-bread was baked by a fire leading against a kettle or other such article.
    Bread was made everyday as nowadays. The potatoe-bread was made in farls or cut in quarters.
