Water is used to seperate the butter from the milk
The butter is lifted out the churn by a wooden hand for the purpose and put into a wooden dish
Before people started churning they put a quenched coal under the churn, so that no stranger could take the butter.
It is said that on May Morning a stranger could take the butter.
The buttermilk is used for making bread and for colds. If a person has a cold they put down buttermilk and put sugar on it and then drink it. The butter is made in a dish with butterspades.- Bailitheoir
