  1. Long ago the people used to make cakes of potatoes and baking soda and oatmeal. They used to grind the oats with querns. How they used to grind it, there would be two querns one over the other on a sheet. In the middle of the over head quern there would be a handle. There be two people one each side and another person putting oats into the querns. They used to bake the cakes on a gred iron. People used to make bread of barley by putting barley into a pot to dry it. They would then grind it with the querns. The people used to cut bread in farrells.
