  1. "Attend your sons and daughters both husband too and wives,
    On these few lines about Dovins who nearly lost his life,
    The cap was blown off his head all on the regatta day,
    And by the winds was carried to the waters of Clew Bay.

    "For to regain hsi headdress he went to the water's side,
    And caught there by the current he was carried down the tide,
    The people in breathless haste spectators stood agast,
    All that day around Clew Bay thought it would be his alst.

    "There was an eye upon the boy who all thought would be drowned,
    It was gallant brave Machauley the ehad of Westport town,
    To hiom it was'nt a second thought he sprang into the bay,
    And after the poor drowning boy he nobly swam away.

    "With boots and clothes you may supposed it was hard to break the waves,
    With courage twoo away he flew young Dovins life to save,
    As soon as he grasped the drowning boy he held him well afloat,
    Until he saw the young las safe intpo arriving boat.
