- (continued from previous page)Angels on the last day? They told him to ask St Patrick the next day at the elevation of the Mass.St Patrick was reading Mass the next day and when he came to the elevation the clerk said to him "what will happened to the fallen Angels on the last day? St Patrick answered and said "Lost, lost, lost."When Mass was over St Patrick asked the clerk why did he ask him that question. The clerk said that when he was out gathering sticks the day before, that people came on the branches of all the trees and asked him what would happen to the fallen on the last day.St Patrick said the only thing for him to do was to dig a grave for himself. He told him to make the sign of the cross on it with his spade and shovel and then to get into it. The clerk made the grave and was going to get into it when the people appeared again. They asked him what did St Patrick say.The clerk told them what St Patrick said. The clerk then got into the grave and he was just in when all the trees fell. If he wasn't in the grave he would have been killed.
