  1. There are four forts in the townland of Cartron. In the field call "Paipc a Lespa" there is one and it is fairly big. it is about twenty yards circular and there is only one mound round it.
    It is believed that there were fairies living in this fort. Once there were trees growing round it but some man cut them down. There is a story told that there was a cow brought on some man that was living near the fort. When he went out to see the cow she was gone. he search everywhere but he could not find her. Next morning he saw the cow coming out of the fort. He was very glad when he saw her coming because he had searched everywhere. He believed that it was the fairies
