  1. How Mannin Lake came
    to be there.
Long ago that field was used for playing hurling and there lived a poor widow near the field and she had only one son. One day when her son was playing hurling someone struck him with a ball and killed him. When his mother heard that her son was killed she cursed the place and she wished it had been a lake. When the people of the village got up the next morning there was a lake there. That is how Mannin Lake came to be there.
