many names of the villages in the locality. 'Cloongoonagh' is a nearby village and it means 'The meadow of the calves'. 'Cloonéan' means 'the village of the birds'. 'Sean baile' means 'old village'. 'Tooreen' in which the National School is now built means 'the Bleaching field'. It got this name because long ago the people bleached flax in it.
