    quern, (or handmill) in her own house in Burrish. The handmill ground the oats into meal and the wheat into flour. Every evening the man of the house ground as much as did for himself and his family at the meals next day. This handmill was very handy and simple. It consisted of two fine stones and a handle to turn them. On top of the handmill there was a pipe to let out the meal into the bag.
    To the top of the handmill was attached a little vessel to hold the corn. On the bottom of this was a small hole to allow the corn to drop out as the handle was being turned. When the mills
