    applied with a spraying-machine. Long ago the spray was applied with a heather broom. Two sprayings are sufficient but some some seasons three sprayings are necessary.
    The potatoes usually grown in this district are,
    Reilly or King Edward VII
    Kerr’s Pinks,
    Arran Banners,
    Epicures,
    British Queens
    Irish Queens.
    The above varieties grow well in this district. Potatoes are usually dug with a grape. They are sorted as follows - safe potatoes - black potatoes - “poreens”. The safe potatoes are stored in pits in a garden. The pit is usually two feet wide and about six inches deep. The potatoes are covered with scraws and clay
