There was a pedlar in Nancy house and while she was away he gave Sean a pistol loaded with blank bullets in exchange for his dagger. The pedlar promised Sean he would help him to kill the priest. He had no intention of doing so and only wished to save the priest. When the priest arrived the pedlar gave him the dagger. He went into the room.
