overhead the old road, it was a very large castle just like Coolastige or Newtown but it had been struck with a cannon ball the time of the Seige of Limerick and all blown away. It was beleived to belong to the "O'Hickeys" they were physicians since the time of Brian Boru. Those five castles that are around Doonass and Aherina included belonged to the clan McNamara and they are believed to be connected underground by passages.
